The regional tourism development opportunities in Csíkdánfalva

In our manuscript we are dealing with the economic development potential of Csíkdánfalva and the available system of tools from the point of view of tourism. The results of our manuscript are originated from a research, which completed in the first quarter of this year. The paper fully maps the surroundings of the settlement in the light of future tourism development opportunities. The aim of our work is to examine the development of medical tourism potential of Csíkdánfalva. In the period before the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic (in 2019) tourism increased by 4% worldwide compared to the previous year. According to the latest romanian data 13.268 million tourists in total arrived at commercial accommodation establishments in Romania between 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019. It means 3.6% increase compared to previous year (INS, 2020). In addition, the European Union focuses more on rural development in the 2014-2020 EU programing period than in the former ones. Thanks to this special attention, couple of resources are available for development of medical tourism in Szeklerland, especially for the potential of mineral water resources. The tourism development has both a direct and indirect effects on moving the population retention force of the settlement in a positive direction.
