The data of the fluorine content of drinking waters and mineral waters in Hungary

In 46 tap-water samples and 10 spring-water ones collected from 17 counties of Hungary and 14 different bottled mineral waters, fluorine was determined on the direct potentiometric route using an ion-selective electrode. All but an only spring-water, fluorine concentrations of the drinking waters analysed were found to be lower than the value of 1000 µ/l regarded to be the optimum level Apart from the above-mentined outlying value (1164 µ/l) the mean and the standard deviation of results obtained for the drinking waters were 140 and 89 µ/l, respectively. Much higher fluorine levels were established in certain mineral waters, thus these can significantly improve fluorine status of the consumers.
