Abstract

Possibilities to measure racing performance and the correlation between them were reviewed in our first paper. Factors affecting the racing performance are also important and raise the question is it really measureable or not. In spite of equestrian sports horse races have more homogenous environmental effects and race records are also available for research in database format. Earlier researches consistent with the effect of trainer, rider, the surface and the racing distance are the most important factors and have a significant effect on the racing performance. Because different countries have various racing systems the effect of the above mentioned factors are also different and has a great variability. In the second part of our review the most important environmental and non environmental factors were summarized which are affecting the racing performance of the Thoroughbred horses.
