Preliminary data on the orthoptera fauna of the Beregszász hills (Transcarpathia, Ukraine)

The Orthoptera fauna of the Hungarian part of the Bereg lowland is well studied, while the Ukrainian part is still nearly unknown. Many „hills” were emerged thanks to the Upper Tertiary volcanic activity on this area. Although we already have some data from the lowland part since 2010, the hilly regions are still unexplored. The aim of our research was to compile a faunal list of the Beregszász-hills. The investigations were carried out in summer, 2013, on 8 sampling-areas. The samplings were always made by sweeping net and we supplemented it with handpicking. In this hilly region 28 species have been found. We determined the species composition of grasslands as well as the spectra of faunal elements and life forms. According to our results the Orthoptera assemblages of the sampling sites show considerable differences both in species composition and frequency. However, these records are only preliminary data on the faunal composition of this area.
