A hízónyulak leggyakrabban előforduló megbetegedése a hasmenés, melynek kialakulásában baktériumok mellett paraziták is szerepet játszhatnak. Az endoparaziták közül legtöbb esetben a kokcidiózisért felelős Eimeria fajok mutathatók ki a nyulak emésztőrendszerében. Jelen közlemény a nyulaknál azonosított Eimeria fajokról összegyűjtött szakirodalmi ismereteket tárgyalja, úgy mint az egyes fajok bélszakaszonkénti elhelyezkedése és patogenitása, a kokcidium oociszták életciklusai, továbbá a megelőzés és kezelés lehetséges alternatívái.
