Possibilities of Implement Performance Evaulation Systems in the Pork Supply Chain, with Particular Reference to the Slaughterpig Purchase

The paper outlines a practical applicable method to evaluate the performance of slaughterpig suppliers. Our study was carried out about the buying-in and slaughter data of a Hungarian processor enterprise between the years 2003 and 2007. We have demonstrated the affect of the EU joining on the slaughter pig supply base, and have evaluated the performance of different supplier groups by the „lean meat percentage” as a quality indicator, and by the „total purchase cost per lean meat content” as a value-for-money indicator. It was established, that the structure of domestic supply base has been changed substantially after the slaughterpig market opening. The flow-in of the import caused quality improvement. The role of the integrations appreciated during the investigated period. The application of the designed evaluating method could be important to achieve a homogenous supply of the integrations.
