Abstract

There were many greenways developed in the last decade in Hungary, and there are demands to develop further ones. The main aim is to lay out or to design non-motorized routes and to operate them, an example international „Greenways”. The developed greenways are various: they have individual properties in accordance with local conditions and demands in Hungary and abroad as well. Consequently, there is an opportunity for highlighting the local peculiarities of the landscapes. Nevertheless, there is an absence of the legal and technical regulation for the maintenance of the designated and establishing of new greenways. In this contribution we would like to suggest the development of a regulation system for the design parameters of greenways. It is based on the experiences achieved during the establishing of Buda Region Greenway in the agglomeration of Budapest and by citing international examples.
