Abstract

The article presents a workshop conducted by students of the Faculty of Landscape Architecture at Corvinus University of Budapest in the Netherlands, focusing on understanding the Dutch water management system and its application in open space design. During the study trip, the students analyzed the polder landscapes of the Randstad region and learned about Dutch landscape architecture traditions, which are rooted in man-made landscapes. The article addresses the historical development of Dutch water management and modern challenges, such as dealing with freshwater shortages. It also highlights the role of water in urban planning and sustainable urban development.
