The brown hare is one of the best-known species in our country. It also plays a vital role in small-game management. Therefore, it is important to know the needs and behaviour of the brown hare, so that we can help the current population situation with appropriate planning. The aim of the study was to answer the question whether brown hare farming could be a solution to the current problem. We analysed the behaviour of individuals reared and living in aviaries and their wild counterparts. The investigation was carried out in Aszód and Babatpuszta, based on videos recorded by trail cameras and thermal cameras. The results showed that the most important behaviours of both groups studied included eating, and most behaviours were performed solitarily. On the whole, there is not much difference between the behavior of the reared brown hares and the wild individuals.
