Abstract

Comics, as one of the most underrated genres, has been trying to find its place on the national cultural market for years. This study provides an insight into the world of comics and tries to highlight those skills and abilities that are needed for orientation in the information society. The study presents the values of comics that can be used in their support role of literacy for the dissemination of knowledge and can be put to the service of competence development. The role of libraries as one of the main institutions of information society in these issues cannot be ignored at all. In the study, some examples from national and foreign libraries’ practice try to prove the values and validity of comics as an independent, valuable genre.
