Abstract

Every field of Science has the basic requirement to define the key terms of the profession. The word of landscape (táj) in the Hungarian language appears in various contexts with several meanings. In the Encyclopedia of Environmental Protection and in the Explanatory Encyclopedia of Hungarian Words „táj” is defined as the geographical unit of the land vvhich has the same geography, geomorphology, land use, hydrology and plánt associations. In these explanations the natural effects of the landscape formation has a strong, while the cultural effects has a smaller influence on defining the landscape.
