Human mobility, individualism and the speed of modern living have fostered the need for fast-growing ornamental plants. But people often forget that these rapidly-growing plants can, if they spread out of their man-made landscapes, become invasive and
destroy the plant life native to the area. This article demonstrates some cases from the last century, when humans did not care (or did not know) about the risks attendant to bringing plants from the other side of the world.
