Abstract

The aim of this study was to model the changes of water resources using the possibilities of GIS. The method was tested on a linear based irrigation field that covers 280 hectares. By the means of GIS the whole field can be describes with the measured or calculated evaporation and transpiration values of the examined samples. Thus a database was established by the interpolation of sample data, which typically describe the whole field. This database was the base of the analysis. The achievement of the task required the establishment of such time series database of water resource changes in the soil that is suitable for GIS data processing. My aim was to represent the drying out and filling up processes of soil moisture during the growing period, and to achieve quick analysis with the planning of different amount of irrigation water. Furthermore to analyse the effect and duration of water compensation, and to study the changes of soil moisture content (sensitivity for dryness) on different parts of the field.
