A versenylovak versenyteljesítményének mérési lehetőségeiről és az azok közötti összefüggésekről irodalmi összefoglalónk előző részében számoltunk be. A versenyteljesítmény vizsgálatakor azonban nem szabad megfeledkeznünk az azt befolyásoló tényezőkről sem. A lovassportokkal ellentétben a lóversenyzés területén sokkal egyöntetűbb környezeti hatások tapasztalhatók, illetve a versenyek eredményeinek rögzítése és a versenyt befolyásoló körülmények adatainak hozzáférhetősége is megfelelő. A korábbi kutatási eredmények többnyire megegyeznek abban, hogy egy versenylónak a versenyteljesítményét befolyásoló tényezők közül a lovas, a tréner, illetve a pálya talaja és a verseny távja bír a legnagyobb jelentőséggel. Ezen hatások egymáshoz viszonyított aránya a különböző országok versenyrendszeréből adódóan igen változatos. Irodalmi összefoglalónk második részében a versenyteljesítményt befolyásoló környezeti hatások mértékét és azok egymáshoz viszonyított arányát ismertetjük.
