The winner of the landscape development tender for the City Park in Pest, Christian Heinrich Nebbien was born in 1778 in Lübeck. He came from a wealthy civic family. He studied agriculture and garden art in Mecklenburg and
Holstein and then acquired experience in farming, forestry and construction, also reading the respective professional literature. Until he turned 30 years of age, he went on several study trips to Germany, Russia, England, Italy and Hungary.
