Abstract

In the 1930’s the rate of establishing protected areas has increased significantly. During the six years from 1934 until the beginning of the Second World War more than 400 protected natural areas were established, while in the previous 21 years less than 300 were founded. The history of nature conservation serves us numerous curiosities from this period. Areas with decisive importance in the life of biotopes and species that were receiving high number of visitors, had gradually been put under legal protection. From the beginning of official nature conservation (1872) such changes took place in the handling of the nature conservation areas that their introduction is inevitable for the overview of the nature conservation history from the point of view of their establishment. For the time being we continue our former article from 1934 and give an overview until the beginning of the Second World War. The published data apply to the areas classified by the IUCN.
