Abstract

The common vole is one of the most important vertebrate pest species in Europe and in Hungary as well. Two earlier collected nest of the common vole are investigated, and 11 mite species were recorded. Three groups of the mites are presented: parasitic mites, predatory mites living in the nests and saprobionts. On the basis of this new observation the dominant species belonged to the parasitic species. First record of Pneumolaelaps antipai (Solomon, 1968) from Hungary is given with short description and new original illustrations.
