Vadmadarak nehézfém-szennyezettségének vizsgálata Magyarország különböző régióiban

In recent decades heavy metals have been a major concern for human, animal welfare and the environment. The purpose of our study was to measure and evaluate the concentration of cadmium, chromium, zinc, copper, lead and mercury in the feather of several different bird species from different regions of the country (Northern and Southern Great Plain, Northern and Central Hungary). Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry was used to determine their concentration. We have sought answers to some key questions that (1) may the extent of heavy metal contamination in the study area play a role in the development of intoxication; whether there is a difference between (2) the ages; (3) the sexes; and (4) the diet of the groups. Based on our results, these heavy metals do not contaminate the investigated area at levels that may cause adverse effects or toxicity to birds.
