Abstract

Purpose of our study was to investigate the possible use of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) seeds damaged by weevil in pelleted carp feed. Not damaged bean was also used in an other experimental feed and a commercial carp feed was used as a control. All feeds were isocaloric and isoproteic. According to the preliminary results of the compositional analysis, damaged bean is a suitable partial substitute for fish meal in aquafeeds, but in high percentage has adverse effects on carp’s performance. Further experiments are required to determine the appropriate rate of - intact or damaged - bean in fish feed.
