Abstract

Introducing the notion of multi-functional agriculture and also, aspiring towards a sustainable land-structure significantly altered the approach in land and environmental evaluation. As sustainable agricultural systems have multiple roles, evaluation, besides assuming the production capacity of an area, has to cover the protection potential as well. Evaluation methods that are based on experts’ judgments are appropriate tools to analyze the various roles of multi-functional agricultural systems. These methods are suitable to investigate potential conflicts within the system, as well. This paper demonstrates the main elements, IT development potential and the usage for land- and environmental evaluation of the KIPA method, which has been developed by József Kindler and Ottó Papp.
