Analysing datas of rural development with GIS methods on the settlements of Somogy county

Abstract

With using the complex indexes opportunity is presented to compare the settlements more easily. Statistical knowledge is needed to count the variables forming the index, however the data, which are typical of the settlements, are sometimes insufficient for the suitable analysis. With the help of GIS softwares, the data can be completed with the position of the objects, hereby after the classification an opportunity is presented to compare the neighboring settlements. One of the advantages of the GIS softwares is that they are suitable to represent several data simultaneously, so several viewpoints can be considered at the analysis at the same time. Our object was to create a GIS database, that can be used to store and analyze data of rural development, and to judge the development of the settlements in any "kistérség"Â of the country. First we made the database with using the data of "Fonyód kistérség"Â, than extended it to Somogy County, that way we had opportunity to observe several types of the settlements.
