Harmonising works and preparing the join with Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union are of overriding importance from the aspect of Hungarian EU accession. Within the frames of this program the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HSCO) develops Geographical Information System for Plantation Statistics included in the Agricultural Statistics Digital Map project. Tins subsystem contains the complete Hungarian database of vineyard and fruit cadastre. Statistician experts of HCSO need special, practice-oriented GIS courses focusing on spatial data analysis and data evaluation. Applied Geoinformatics Laboratory (University of Szeged, Hungary) has a long tradition in this kind of approach to GIS education. This paper describes the properties of GIS courses for specialists of different disciplines.
