Abstract

In our survey we attempted to find the answer to the question how does the change in the average monthly temperature influence the performance of slaughter pigs. We come to the conclusion that different climatic conditions between the sample months have significantly affected most of the profit-oriented parameters. If the temperature rises the following parameters decrease, the daily feed consumption, the daily weight gain, required feed quantity for gaining 1 kg extra weight. Increase percentage of loss. Do not change significantly the slaughter quality. According to our calculation in case of farms with inproper conditions (if there is no heating, cooling, and insulation system) the divergence from the optimal annualtemperature will cause considerable loss every year - which can be more than 500 HUF per slaughter pig.
