Abstract

The city and the natural landscape are living spaces of a similar scale. In a city, it is an essential question how it relates to the landscape and to the natural hőst environment. The questions and problems can be formal, spatial, functional in natúré, but in most cases the main question is about the degree of violence, namely, whether the city’s development is in accordance with
local, natural conditions, or conflicting with them. If we accept that the city is a growing, living structure, it is favorable, if it is striving to "cooperate" with the natural landscape features and mechanisms, which it had taken possession of. What I mean by cooperation, I will show the example of two major natural and natural-like structural lines of Berlin, and by some of their points.
