Abstract

Mihály Mőcsényi landscape architect, doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts would celebrate his 100th birthday on the 9th of November, 2019. The professor who passed away in the autumn of 2017 was awarded by the highest honours in science and art, including the Széchenyi Prize and the Kossuth Prize, and, besides numerous other national and international recognitions, he also received the Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award, the grand prize of IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architects) in 2012. Professor Mőcsényi bequeathed a paramount national and international oeuvre to posterity by laying the foundations of landscape planning as a discipline, then consolidating and developing the contextual, structural and institutional basis of academic landscape architecture education.
