Abstract

Our goal in this article was to summarize those new results about the Laelapidae mite family we have experienced so far in the case of plant protection. We note some newly collected species from urban and agricultural soils and on pest and pollinator insects as well. Stratiolaelaps scimitus (Womersley, 1956) is an important mite-species in the family of Laelapidae which is a generalist predator and was often collected from the surface of the soil just like from plants too. Due to their fast moving behavior this species may have an important role in the regulation of the pest species population and in biological control.
