The article discusses the development of the Hungarian construction industry over the past 20 years, with a particular focus on the impact of government restructuring. It provides a detailed overview of how the management of construction shifted between various ministries and agencies, causing challenges in the long-term implementation of urban development and spatial planning projects. The article highlights that the importance of the construction sector was often undervalued, with property developers exerting significant influence, leading to disorganized urban growth and neglect of the public interest. The author expresses hope that in the future, stronger professional oversight will emerge, ensuring the enforcement of public interest and more transparent management of urban development.
