In the 15th century, the creation of the ideal royal, aristocratic residence was an important moment in the revival of antiquity and the spread of humanism in the Italian courts. In addition to the large banqueting hall inherited from the Middle Ages, other elements of the Plinian Roman villa, such as the corridor (loggia) called the heliocaminus, the bathhouse and the hanging garden, became an essential part of the humanist palace.
