Effect of Food Safety on the Market Competition in Hungary
Abstract
One of the main tasks of the Hungarian agro-food industry is to maintain the activity of the food market with high level of competitiveness. This is based on good quality and low risk of the products sold on the market. Food safety investigations and control are carried from the contaminants of the soil to the end of the food chain, the table of the consumer. Several Hungarian companies are able to produce safe food, with limited amount of hazardous contaminants and sell it on the Common Market of the European Union. More and more Hungarian com-panies are registered as safe food producer, they are entitled to use an oval formed logo on the label which is a marketing advance recog-nised by the consumer.
