Abstract

This research concentrates on the consumption of pork and pork products in the North Great Plain Region. The research is aimed at the pork meat consumption because it is one of the most popular meats in Hungary, although in recent years, the major rival - the poultry meat – based on the per capita annual consumption, has preceded the pork meat. Regarding the consumption of meat products it can be stated that there are significant differences – there are some that we consume less from and others that we consume more from – and the consumption of there products has either or positive or a negative effect on the state of health of the Hungarian population. Besides this the product features and some other factors (trend, fashion, consumer misconception), which can decrease or increase our pork meat consumption, are also examined.
