Development of ethics and animal welfare in domestic animals
Part II: Philosophical approaches

In the first part of this article the authors gave a detailed review of approaches of Judaism and Christianity towards the relationship between humans and animals. In this second part we are going to examine the philosophical approaches that affected the behaviour of humans towards animals. During this, we devote special attention to the development of legal rules and regulations. Furthermore the article treats the tension between modern animal protection, animal welfare and the ethics of husbandry and the effectiveness of growth. In the last part we are going to treat the topic of ethical problems of modern biotechnology.
