Abstract

In professional language, many foreign loan-words are used widely, which can lead to emasculation of Hungarian language. The Hungarian title of this journal contains three loan-words as well. This article is a reply to a paper written by Jávorka (2005), titled “Thoughts about the title of a new electronic journal”. Author evaluates the possibilities of replacing the words “welfare”, “ethology” and “technology” by Hungarian equivalents. He offers Hungarian words instead of “welfare” and “ethology”. On his opinion, “technology”, as an international word, having a special meaning that is not really expressed by any Hungarian words, should not be wiped out from Hungarian language, but he warns Hungarian authors against the stereotype use of it.
