160th anniversary of the birth of Imre Ujhelyi
Abstract
This year marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of Ujhelyi Imre, an outstanding figure in Hungarian animal breeding and nutrition science. His work played a decisive role in establishing a modern approach to animal husbandry in Hungary, particularly in developing the scientific foundations of animal nutrition. His professional activities contributed to the transformation of animal breeding into a discipline increasingly based on experimental results and systematic knowledge by the early 20th century. As both an educator and a researcher, he had a significant impact on the development of the field and on the training of future generations. Commemorating his legacy is not only a tribute to a distinguished scientist, but also a reminder that today’s research achievements rest on solid foundations, to which his work made a lasting contribution.
