Abstract

Labour Market Activity of Women in the Years After Their Childbirth.

For a woman one of the most important question after the birth of her child is whether to return to the labour market or not, and if so, when. Naturally there are several types of pros and cons to consider before the decision. In our study we analyse the economic incentives provided by the Hungarian maternity transfer system. First we introduce the factors influencing labour supply in general. After that we describe the different types of maternity transfers in our country. Based on the data of OEP (National Health Insurance Fund in Hungary) we analyse the attitude of women in Hungary. Last but not least we try to draw conclusions and formulate recommendations in order to improve the labour supply of women.
