Horizon or Reflections on the exhibition “Táj-képzet” (Landscape-Vision) by the faculty of the MATE Rippl-Rónai Art Institute

Abstract

In the life of an art institution of higher education, it is worthwhile from time to time to showcase not only the work of its students, but also the professional activities of its teaching staff in the form of an exhibition. The exhibition "Táj-képzet" (táj=land / tájkép=landscape, képzet=imagination/vision) was organised for this very purpose in the Rippl Gallery of the Rippl-Rónai Art Institute of the Kaposvár Campus of MATE in the autumn of 2023. Colleagues teaching in the various departments of the institute have a diverse professional background: graphic artists, painters, sculptors, media artists, theatre visual designers, filmmakers, applied artists and photographers have all participated in the exhibition. In this article I will provide an overview of this event: I will try to go beyond a simple description and put the works into context, juxtapose the creative concepts and find intellectual and content-related links, in order to weave the very different works of art and technique into a single thread of thought.
