Comprovisated Live Electronics
Keywords:
analog, hybridity, sound-reactive, visualisation, comprovisationAbstract
The holistic approach that has always been desired, the specific unification of the senses and mediums, brought perhaps the most exciting and complex art project experiments over the centuries and still brings them to the surface today. Within the diverse group of audiovisual works, the comprovisations are perhaps the closest to the happenings of our day, to hybrid, dynamic thinking. The interactive, sound-reactive electronics and audiovisual techniques of the 1960s and 80s are experiencing a renaissance today. The organic nature of analog electronics together with digital precision also opens the doors to new possibilities. Hybrid solutions enable the realization of new multimedia works, which great predecessors such as Alexander László or László Moholy-Nagy dreamed of or could only dream of a century ago. “Comprovisation" means that both compositional and improvisational procedures are present; the word itself was born from the combination of the two. The study describes some new, live electronic projects from the collaboration of contemporary artists, whose author-performers are composers Ákos Nagy and Attila Dóra and the author of this text.
