To preserve and improve the quality of Business Information Systems (BIS) education in Hungary, it is strongly suggested to periodically rethink the major changes and trends in IT/IS, in national and international requirements and make decisions related to the BIS curriculum changes and developments. Based on international experiences (mainly USA and G) the author is looking for answers, „how to move ahead?” After analyzing the major educational trends, trends in IT/IS (including hardware, software operating systems, network technologies, programming languages, ERP and Web-services etc.), changes of market requirements and economic environment (e.g., EU, business and public administration applications, international competition etc.), the model-curricula IS2002 and MSIS2000 are shortly discussed
