Absztrakt

A szürke farkas (Canis lupus) hazánkban is újra egyre inkább terjedő nagyragadozó. Megítélése ellentmondásos, mivel feltételezett kedvező ökológiai hatásai mellett a csülkösvadfajok és a legelő háziállatok állományaiban gazdasági kárt is okozhat. Publikációnkban áttekintést adunk a farkas táplálkozási sajátságairól szerzett eddigi tudományos ismeretekről, melyekre alapozva a farkas természetvédelmi kezelését hatékonyabbá tehetjük, a konfliktusokat csökkenthetjük. A farkas csúcsragadozóként a hazai faunában mindenképpen fontos ökológiai szabályozó szerepet tölthet be, például a nagytestű növényevő fajok erőteljes lokális hatásait enyhítheti. Mindemellett azonban a farkas természetes ragadozó viselkedésével jelentős kedvezőtlen hatást is gyakorolhat a csülkös vadfajok és a patás háziállatok állományaira; csökkentheti az állományuk egyedszámát, megváltoztathatja az egyedek tér- és időbeli aktivitási mintázatait, növelheti a stressz szintjét. Ezért fontos ezeket az interakciókat hazánkban is részletesebben feltárni, hogy a farkasállomány védelmével egyidőben a keletkező konfliktusokat is kezelni lehessen.
