Absztrakt

The harmonisation of nutrition and health claims is a long-term process in the European Union. Legal activity was started in December 2006 by issuing the 1924/2006 regulation of the European Parliament and of the European Commission. The increasing knowledge about the links between food and health would provide a guideline for orientation in the food choice on the Common Market. Strong international cooperation of food control authorities and food companies is needed in collecting and identifying claims on the packaging of food products. This activity would result in the necessary database for a multi-lingual society of consumers. The acceptance and authorization of scientific evidences is needed to prevent consumers from misinformation and from misleading claims.
