About the Journal
Animal Welfare, Ethology and Housing Systems (AWETH) journal is an online journal recognised by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Section of Agricultural Sciences. It is published twice a year. The primary language of the journal is Hungarian, but it also publishes scientific articles in Hungarian and English in the fields of animal husbandry, animal breeding, and ethology.
Ownership
Animal Welfare, Etológia és Tartástechnológia is owned by the Institute of Animal Sciences, Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The owner is represented by the Rector of the University.
Aims and scope and mission statement
The journal Animal Welfare, Etológia és Tartástechnológia is a scientific journal founded in 2005 and published twice a year. In some cases, it may also appear with special issues. The periodical publishes original scientific publications, research results, reviews and personalities in the field of animal husbandry and closely related disciplines in Hungarian and English.

Review process
The journal is reviewed in a double-blind review process. Submitted manuscripts are evaluated by two professional reviewers in an anonymous review process.
Conflict of Interest Policy
The author(s) of the manuscript and the referee(s) of the manuscript must not be from the same Department.
The editorial board is committed to implementing double-blind peer review, as well as ensuring the exclusion of conflicts of interest in the editing process and review of manuscripts submitted by their own editorial board members or by the journal's reviewers as authors or co-authors. A manuscript submitted by a member of the editorial board or by a reviewer of the journal cannot be reviewed by that particular editor or reviewer. A publishing editor cannot be appointed to their own manuscript, meaning that an editor cannot coordinate the review process of a manuscript in which they are an author or co-author. To achieve this, the editorial board employs several journal managers and journal editors simultaneously.

The Author(s) declare that there are no potential financial or personal interests and relationships in connection with their article that may influence the results of the research or their interpretation.
Plagiarism policy
The AWETH editorial team all submitted manuscripts to the Journal are screened for plagiarism since January of 2024 using the Turnitin software, that is provided by the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences. If the similarity index is significant, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for corrections.
Length of publication period of submitted manuscripts
Based on the publication frequency of Animal Welfare, Etológia és Tartástechnológia, the manuscripts are expected to be published within 2-8 months from submission if their manuscript is accepted after peer review process. If the manuscript does not meet to the journal's guidelines in terms of content or form, or cannot be published as a result of the plagiarism check, the editorial board will notify the submitting corresponding author within 2–4 weeks.

None of the online issue of the Animal Welfare, Etológia és Tartástechnológia publish any advertisements.
Animal Welfare, Ethology and Animal Husbandry is published on the OJS platform hosted by the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences, with open access to the full text of articles. No other direct marketing methods are used by the editors to advertise the Animal Welfare, Etológia és Tartástechnológia content, or for the announce of our call for papers.

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. The journal allows authors to archive their manuscripts under the following conditions:
