Abstract

A main keystone of geoinformatics is an accurate map. Geodesy, also known as geodetics is a science about measuring the well-defined points of natural shapes and artifical objects on the surface of the Earth. These measurements can also useful during orienteering technique, where we would like to determine our position or other objects’ position. I would like to introduce an orienteering helper application, where we use the mobile phone’s GPS, compass, g-sensor, camera, touch screen for measurements. Additionally, in a user-friendly way, so we do not have to know the above instruments’ exact functionalities. For example, the only thing we have to do to localize an unknown point is just take some pictures from some well-known place and mark the place on the pictures. In this article the above devices, techniques and the orienteering helper application is going to be introduced.
