Integral Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and the informatics support of „Controlling” (OLAP-Technologies)

Abstract

In Hungary, systems created for Integral Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with the help of informatics first took place in the banking sphere, and it is happening nowadays at other companies which play a significant role in our economy. ERP is a three-folded task: the first step is to ensure that the inner and outer data resources of a given company are accessible and all the necessary data is provided; the second is to establish a Data Warehouse with the necessary analyzing and evaluating techniques; and the third is to create an entitlement system which matches the various layers of the company’s leadership. This article introduces two essential services of the Business Intelligence System (BIS), which are Data Mining and the different functions of On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP). The vital informatics support given by Controlling is due to specific data processing methods (such as slicing, spinning, highlighting domains, drilling down along hierarchies, aggregation and sub-dices).
