Abstract

The article focuses on the rehabilitation of the romantic garden of the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, outlining principles for garden restoration that align with the historical and cultural significance of the building. It presents the historical development of the palace’s garden, with a particular focus on the Baroque and Romantic landscape architecture periods. The study details the plans for restoring the original spatial structure of the garden, emphasizing an authentic reconstruction supported by historical sources. The article also addresses the condition of the vegetation and the efforts to evoke the romantic atmosphere, highlighting the importance of restoring period elements such as the former chestnut avenue and the Royal Hill.
